I read a study that said we lose about half our close friends every seven years

Found it in an article from a university blog last week. They were talking about how adult friendships naturally fade if you don't put in work. It hit me because I just moved to a new city, Denver, and my old friend group feels so far away now. I counted and realized I only talk to maybe two people from my college crew regularly. The study said it's normal, but it still feels weird and kind of sad. It made me think I need to be more active about setting up calls or planning visits, not just liking their posts. Has anyone else had to really push themselves to keep old friends close after a big move?

Oh man, moving totally does that! I set a calendar reminder to text two old friends every Friday, which sounds lame but works. It keeps me from just thinking about it and never doing it.

Moving to a new city forces you to be the planner for old friendships. I put a recurring monthly video call on the calendar with my best friend back home, no excuses. It feels less like work and more like a thing we just do.

My calendar has a weekly alarm to text my mom, so Elizabeth_hunt, you're way ahead of me.
