I swore you could not make real friends after 30, then my Tuesday volleyball league proved me wrong
For years I told anyone who would listen that making friends as an adult was hopeless and that my college buddies were the only real ones I would ever have. Then in March I joined a rec volleyball league at the Y in Columbus, mostly to get off the couch, and I figured it would just be 90 minutes of awkward high fives once a week. Six months later, three of those people helped me move a couch up two flights of stairs on a random Saturday, and one of them texted me when my dog died. What changed my mind was not some big moment, it was the dumb stuff, like grabbing tacos after games and complaining about the same ref every week. Turns out friendship after 30 is less about finding your soulmate buddy and more about showing up to the same thing over and over. So yeah, I was wrong, and now I am curious, how many of you met your grown-up friends through some kind of weekly thing like a league or class?
