Last week my best friend sat me down and pointed out I cut people off mid-story constantly.

She said I always jump in with my own similar experience before they finish and I never even noticed I was doing it, has anyone else had a friend call them out on a habit they had no clue about?

Oh man, the "jumping in with my own similar experience" thing really hit home for me. I got called out for the exact same thing a few years ago and had no idea I was doing it either (it's like my brain just assumes I'm relating to them by sharing my version).

Wait, you got called out for it too? Like someone actually sat you down and told you that you were doing it? I feel like I need to hear that story because I got called out in the most awkward way possible. My friend was telling me about her stressful trip to the DMV and I immediately jumped in with "oh yeah, I waited four hours last week and they lost my paperwork" and she just looked at me and said "can you let me finish before you make it about you?" I was mortified @garcia.casey. I literally thought I was bonding with her by relating to the DMV pain, not trying to steal the spotlight.
