Dropped $220 on a bread machine in January, and it's now a very expensive paperweight
I was gonna be the person who makes fresh bread every Sunday, but I used it maybe 4 times before it got shoved in the closet next to the air fryer my sister gave me. My husband keeps asking if I'm gonna sell it on Facebook Marketplace for like $40 and honestly, I keep pretending I don't hear him. Did anyone actually stick with theirs past the honeymoon phase, or did you just go back to the $3 loaf at Aldi?
Used to roll my eyes at people who swore by their bread machines, like ok sure you're a homesteader now. But then my neighbor started bringing over these thick slices still warm with butter and I caved and got one at a thrift store for $15. What actually changed my mind was finding a 5 minute recipe where you just dump flour, yeast, water, salt and walk away, no kneading, no timing, nothing. Now I make a loaf every few days because it costs me like 60 cents and takes less effort than driving to the store. I still grab a cheap loaf sometimes when I'm lazy, but the machine earns its spot on my counter now.
