I heard my neighbor's kid ask 'why do grown ups get mail that makes them cry?'
I was checking my mailbox yesterday and saw a medical bill for $1200 that I forgot about. The kid next door saw my face and asked his mom that question. She just said 'bills, honey' and gave me a look. I felt so called out for being behind on my stuff. Has anyone else had a moment where a kid pointed out your adulting fail?

Nah, kids just notice everything, it's not a fail.

Okay but noticing is the first step! If a kid points it out, maybe it's time to change something.

Ugh, been there. My niece once asked why I always sigh at my phone, which was a wake-up call about my budget app notifications. I started putting all my bills on auto-pay for the small stuff, which helped a ton. It doesn't fix everything, but it cuts down on those surprise sad-face moments.
