My landlord in Denver said "just handle it" about a burst pipe, so I did and now I'm out $310
Pipe under the bathroom sink burst at 11pm on a Saturday and when I called my landlord he told me to just shut off the main and deal with it myself. I paid an emergency plumber $310 out of pocket and now he's saying that was my call so he's not reimbursing me. Do I have any shot at getting that money back or did I just learn a $310 lesson about renting?
That really sucks, 11pm on a Saturday is the worst possible time for that to happen. Your landlord basically left you hanging and then acted like you went rogue when you did exactly what he told you to. I'd look into your local tenant laws, some places let you deduct emergency repairs from rent if the landlord refuses to act.
