My 'organized' tax folder was a total mess when I needed a receipt from last July

I spent 45 minutes digging through a pile of old grocery lists and expired coupons before finding it. Anyone else have a system that looks good but falls apart under pressure?

That system was never really organized to begin with.

Remember my friend's color-coded binder? It looked perfect until she needed a single form and the tabs were all wrong. The whole thing was sorted by date but she needed it by client name. Sometimes a system just works for the wrong problem.
