Paid $80 for a 'smart' trash can that opens when you wave your hand
It worked great for a week, then the sensor broke and now I have to manually lift the lid like a peasant. Has anyone found a good way to fix these things without buying a whole new one?

Sarah268 is onto something with the "feature, not a bug" idea. My own smart can started ignoring my hand and opening for the cat, which was a problem. Then the sensor died and honestly, it's kind of a relief. I'm not doing the awkward hand dance over the trash anymore. It's one less thing to worry about breaking and needing a battery. Sometimes the low tech fix is the best one.
