Compared two AI image generators last week and one was way behind

I ran the same prompt through Midjourney and DALL-E 3 last Thursday, something simple like 'a cat in a raincoat'. Midjourney gave me this detailed, moody shot with reflections on the pavement that looked like a photo. DALL-E 3 gave me a cartoon cat with a plastic bag on its head, not even close. I get that one is newer, but come on, the quality gap is huge for something people pay monthly for. Has anyone else noticed one tool just falling behind for basic stuff?

Wait, did you mean to say DALL-E 3 is the newer one? I thought Midjourney v6 came out after DALL-E 3, actually. Either way, I tried the same thing with a prompt like "a raccoon eating pizza" and Midjourney gave me this greasy, dimly lit slice with fur details while DALL-E 3 gave me a cartoony raccoon with a huge smile holding a triangle of pizza. The lighting and texture just aren't there on DALL-E 3 for realistic stuff, it's like it's stuck in a different style.

So you're telling me Midjourney gave you a raccoon with a whole vibe and DALL-E gave you a Disney character? Sounds about right.
