Question about using a 2-wire smoke detector for a retrofit job

My supplier told me to just use a resistor to trick the panel, but it failed inspection in Springfield last Tuesday. Anyone know a better way to handle old 2-wire systems?

That inspector hates those resistor hacks.

Actually, I see it the other way around, @oscarmurphy. That inspector just wants things done right the first time. Those hacks can cause bigger problems down the line. It's not hate, it's about keeping things safe.
