A guy at the Phoenix con told me my top 5 list was trash to my face, still think about it
I was standing in line for a ramen bowl at Phoenix Fan Fusion back in March and this guy behind me saw my phone lock screen, which is my top 5 anime list. He looked at it for like 10 seconds and just said 'you put that at number 2? that's a nostalgia pick, not a real pick' and then we argued for 20 minutes until he got his food. It bugged me at first but honestly he kind of had a point, so how do you all decide if something is actually good or if you just watched it when you were 14?

Why let some rando at a con decide what you like though? The nostalgia thing is real, I won't lie, stuff you watched at 14 hits different because your brain was basically mush and everything felt huge. But here's the thing, if a show still holds up when you go back and watch it as an adult, it's not just nostalgia, it's actually good. The move is to rewatch it years later with zero hype and see if you still feel it, if you do then who cares what that guy thinks. Dude argued with you for 20 minutes in a ramen line, that says more about him than your list.
