I watched my brother's anime watchlist go from 6 shows to 1 in about 3 months and it was all because he switched to dubs
So my brother lives in Ohio and he sends me his list every few months. Back in March he had 6 shows going at once and he kept dropping stuff after 2 or 3 episodes. Nothing stuck. Then he told me he tried watching with dubs while he games, and suddenly 3 months later he's got one show left because he finished the other 5. I thought he was just being lazy but he said reading subs means he can't do anything else with his hands, so he'd drift off his phone or pause mid episode and lose the thread. Dubs let him keep his eyes on the screen and his ears on the show while he does other stuff. Now he's tearing through stuff way faster than me and I'm kind of jealous. I still can't do dubs for most shows because the voice acting pulls me out. Do you all watch subs or dubs and does it change how many shows you get through?
6 shows to 1 in 3 months is wild, my own watchlist has been stuck at 14 for like a year so your brother is basically lapping me. Honestly the dub thing makes sense for gaming, I tried that once and ended up 40 hours into Stardew with zero idea what happened in the episode. Tbh the dub voices yank me out too, especially the ones where the lip flaps are off and everyone sounds like they're reading a menu. So I stay subbed and just accept that I finish maybe 2 shows a season while other people blow through 10.
