My wife said my favorite anime is just a checklist of tropes
We were watching the new season of 'Sword Art Online' last night, and I was really into it. She looked over and said, 'It's fine, but it feels like they're just ticking boxes: cool loner hero, trapped in a game, a bunch of girls who like him.' I argued it was more than that, but her point stuck with me. It made me wonder if I enjoy some shows more out of habit than real quality. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where a simple comment made you question your whole taste?

My buddy's girlfriend, @noahpark, made him skip every filler episode after the Chunin exams.
