Subbed vs dubbed, why do I keep trying dubs

Honestly, I rewatched Frieren last month and tried the dub for the first time after doing subs for years. The voice direction felt flat next to the original, especially for Fern's quieter moments. Am I the only one who gets almost annoyed when a new show drops and people argue dubs are better?

God yeah, I feel that so hard. I tried the Steins;Gate dub once after loving the sub for years and it just felt off, like the characters were reading lines instead of living them. Maybe it's just me but I always end up switching back halfway through and feel dumb for even trying.
