Switched from weekly binges to one episode a night - pacing changed everything
I used to plow through entire seasons of anime in a weekend, like 12 episodes in a sitting, and I'd forget half the character names by Monday. About 6 months ago, I started limiting myself to a single episode per night, just one, after I realized I couldn't recall what happened in the last arc of a series I finished. It felt painful at first, like waiting for water to boil, but now I actually sit with each scene and think about the animation choices or the voice acting. I noticed last week that I caught a subtle foreshadowing detail in episode 4 of a show that paid off in episode 11, something I'd have totally missed before. My buddy in the same Discord server tried it too after I told him, and he said he's been enjoying shows more because they don't blur together. Has anyone else tried slowing down their watch rate, or do you prefer the marathon approach for certain genres?

Tbh that pacing sounds like self care for anime fans. Ngl I tried it myself and caught so many little details I'd have missed.

self care for anime fans" - that's actually wild to hear someone say out loud but you're not wrong. I used to think marathoning was the only way to really get into a show. Now I'm starting to wonder how many good series I basically speedran through without actually watching them.
