The episode numbering rabbit hole I fell into for 3 days

I tried to track down a specific scene from an old mecha show I watched as a kid, and turns out the version I remembered was from a DVD release that had a totally different episode order than the TV broadcast. I spent three whole evenings cross-referencing fan wikis, old message boards, and even a guy's personal spreadsheet he posted back in 2011. The worst part was when I finally found the scene, it was in a recap episode that only aired in the Japanese cut, not the English dub. My buddy swore I was losing it until I screen-shotted the timestamp and sent it to him. Has anyone else wasted an embarrassing amount of time just trying to figure out which season a single clip belongs to?
