I decided to be totally honest about a mistake in our team meeting last week and my boss actually thanked me for it.
I admitted I'd accidentally deleted a client's file from the shared drive, expecting to get yelled at, but my manager said it was better than hiding it and helped me set up a better backup system, so has anyone else found that being upfront about a screw-up actually worked out okay?

Yeah, expecting to get yelled at is so real. My friend once messed up an order at work and just told her boss right away, and they fixed it together before the customer even noticed. It really does seem like owning up fast just makes things way less of a big deal.

Totally, @kelly.parker. I read something about how admitting a mistake right away actually builds trust. It shows you care more about fixing the problem than hiding it. Makes the whole thing way less scary for everyone.
