Tried to fix my squeaky office chair with butter and it went exactly how you'd think

I was desperate at 3am working on a deadline and grabbed a butter knife. Spread about a tablespoon of salted butter into the gas lift mechanism and it was silent for like 10 minutes until my chair started smelling like a movie theater floor. Has anyone else tried a weird food-based quick fix at work?

That "movie theater floor" smell cracked me up. I remember reading some guy online used mayonnaise on his car door hinges and it worked for a while until it went rancid. Butter probably works the same way - great for five minutes, then you're just stuck with greasy rot smell.

Buddy of mine tried hot sauce on a sticky keyboard key once. Said it actually worked for a few hours. Then he started sneezing every time he typed. @richardk26 nailed it with the mayonnaise car door thing, same exact energy.
