Had to choose between a full door seal or just the gasket on a Bosch fridge
Customer's Bosch 800 series had a bad seal and the whole door liner was cracked. The choice was to replace just the gasket for about $80 and 30 minutes of work, or the full door assembly with the liner for $300 and over an hour. I went with the full door, because the liner crack would have let in warm air anyway. It took me an hour and forty minutes, but the temp is solid now. Has anyone else run into this and stuck with just the gasket to save the customer money?

Classic case of fixing the symptom instead of the disease. The neighbor's story proves the cheap fix is just a band-aid. You made the right call biting the bullet on the full door.

My neighbor's Bosch had the same liner crack. He tried just the gasket first, said it helped but the fridge still ran too much. Ended up doing the full door a month later anyway.
