Overheard a guy at a parts counter in Denver say he never cleans his dryer vent filter

He was dead serious. Said he just lets it build up and burns it off every few months. I've pulled out lint traps that looked like they hadn't been touched in a year and seen the fires they cause. I didn't even know what to say. Anyone else run into customers who think vents are optional?

I mean I guess in his head it makes sense if he thinks the heat just vaporizes it or something. But that buildup in the vent itself is what scares me more than the trap.

Three inches of lint and he calls that "burning it off" like he's searing a steak or something. Pretty sure that's not how physics works, but okay, good luck with that house fire.
