Once I thought everyday artifacts were pointless... my view shifted over time.
I remember when I first started helping on digs... I only cared about special finds like coins or weapons. All those plain pottery bits just looked like junk to me. But after seeing how they fit into old homes and markets... it clicks now. They tell us about regular folks and their routines. Makes the past feel more real, doesn't it?

You said it makes the past feel more real, but I have to disagree. All those pottery bits and plain stuff just make history seem boring and small. Focusing on broken dishes and trash piles takes away from the big, important stories and the amazing finds. I'd rather learn about kings and battles than what some regular person ate from. It feels like we're digging through garbage instead of finding treasure.

Have you ever considered that the plain stuff tells us how most people actually lived? I used to agree with you, but then I got into local history and started noticing everyday objects. Seeing what regular folks used daily made the past way more personal for me. It's like the small finds give context to the big events, so kings and battles have more meaning. For me, that mix of ordinary and epic is what makes history feel complete.
