Cold brew at home finally clicked for me after 4 tries
I always thought making cold brew at home was overrated, the store stuff tasted fine and that $15 pitcher seemed like a gimmick. Then my coworker brought in a mason jar batch she let steep for 18 hours with a cheap filter and the difference was huge, way smoother and no bitter bite. What sold me was timing it with a kitchen scale, 70 grams of coffee to 1 liter of water, and straining it twice through a regular sieve. Has anyone else had a similar breakthrough with a basic method over fancy equipment, or is it just me?

Messing with 70 grams and a scale feels like work, not coffee. The first two times I tried cold brew it came out tasting like dirt water, so I just went back to buying it at the shop. Glad the filter trick worked for you, but some of us need the store to do the heavy lifting.
