Rant: My 15 minute garage door fix turned into a 3 week project

I tried to replace a broken spring on my garage door in Austin, thinking it was a simple swap. Turns out the tension on those springs is no joke, and I snapped my first one off the drum in about 20 seconds flat. After watching four different videos and buying the right winding bars, it still took me three weekends to get the door balanced properly. Has anyone else had a simple home repair spiral like this, or am I just the unlucky one?
