Tried waking up at 5am for 30 days, and it made my whole day worse
Everyone keeps saying get up at 5am and your life will change, so I gave it a real shot starting January 8th. I set my alarm for 4:55, put my phone across the room in my apartment in Columbus, and dragged myself up for 30 straight days. Here is what actually happened: by 2pm I was useless at work, I snapped at a barista over a wrong order, and I started falling asleep on the couch by 8:30 every night anyway. I tracked it in a notebook like a nerd, and my focus got worse, not better, while my coffee bill went from $0 to about $60 that month because I kept buying a second and third cup. Turns out my body just runs later, and forcing the early thing made me tired and grumpy for no reason. I went back to waking up at 7:15 and honestly I feel ten times sharper. So I guess my real ask is this: did the 5am thing ever actually work for you, or did you just get used to feeling bad and call it discipline?
