Appreciation post: that one guy who corrected my star stack in Tucson
Random dude at a dark sky site last March spent 20 minutes showing me my flats were overcorrecting, and my Orion shots finally look decent. He just walked up and said 'your calibration is off, want me to show you?' never got his name. Has anyone else had a stranger save their whole processing workflow like that?

Tbh that "your calibration is off, want me to show you?" line is the kind of thing you remember forever. I had a similar thing happen at a star party in New Mexico, some older guy saw me fighting with my histogram and just said "let me see that" and fixed my gain in like five minutes. It's wild how one random person can save you weeks of frustration with the simplest tip. I still don't know his name either, but I think about him every time my subs come out clean. Glad your Orion shots finally look right, that feeling is unbeatable.
