Shoutout to the guy at the Stellafane star party who called my tracked shots 'lazy'

Honestly, I was at the Stellafane convention in Vermont last August, showing off a clean 5-minute tracked shot of Andromeda. This older guy looked at my laptop and just said 'That's a nice computer picture. Where's the skill?' Tbh, it got under my skin for a solid month. I sold my tracker and spent the next 90 nights learning to manually guide and stack dozens of 30-second exposures. My noise floor is way lower now and I actually understand the data. Has anyone else been pushed to ditch a piece of gear that was actually holding them back?

Forget the gear itself for a second. What was the actual moment that made you decide to sell the tracker? Was it right after his comment, or did you stew on it and have a different breaking point?
