The moon photo trick most people skip is actually stacking images
I kept wondering why my moon shots were so fuzzy compared to what other people posted here. Turns out I was just taking one shot and calling it done. About 6 months ago I learned that stacking like 50 to 100 frames and aligning them in free software like Autostakkert makes a massive difference. The noise drops way down and surface details like craters and ridges pop out clear. I tested it one night in my backyard with a cheap 8 inch Dobsonian and a phone adapter. The sharp stack looked totally different from a single frame. Anyone else tried stacking yet or are you still grabbing singles?

That stacking thing, always thought it was overkill. Turns out I was wrong.

Heard a gearhead on a podcast say the same thing actually...
