Used to freehand all my body filler work till I got called out on a Ford Focus at a shop in Dallas
Back when I started I just eyeballed everything when it came to applying filler, no guide coat or block sanding. Got this Focus job where the customer complained about waves in the door, and my boss made me redo it using a guide coat. Now I use a dust guide coat on every single repair and it catches low spots I never saw before. Anyone else have a trick they resisted at first but now swear by?

Used to skip wiping with wax and grease remover. Thought it was BS. Then had a hood blister on me after two months. Never again.
