My old foreman swore by 3/8 inch fuel line on 4.3 Vortecs and I called it lazy until one left me on I-10
Back when I was turning wrenches in Tucson, a foreman named Dale kept a spool of 3/8 line on the shelf and used it for every 4.3 fuel filter job, even when the book called for 5/16. I gave him grief about it for two years, said he was just avoiding a parts run. Then last spring a customer's Blazer died outside Eloy at 108 degrees and the 5/16 line I'd installed six weeks earlier had collapsed at the filter fitting. Dale's setup had a little more slack and never kinked, and the truck ran another 60k before the guy sold it. Anybody else got a shortcut that looks wrong on paper but keeps working in the real world?
