Remember when you could actually see the whole engine bay without a special tool?
I was replacing a water pump on a 2018 Civic in my home garage last fall and dropped a 10mm socket into a gap so small I had to take apart half the front end just to fish it out with a magnet on a stick, which took about 45 minutes and made me miss my old '92 pickup.

Ever wonder if they make the gaps just big enough to swallow tools but too small for human hands on purpose? Like it's a sick joke from the engineers who never have to fix their own designs. My theory is it's a hidden tax on home mechanics, so you get so fed up you just pay the dealer next time. All that plastic covering and tight packaging feels less about function and more about locking you out.

Feel your pain on a spiritual level. I once spent an hour trying to retrieve a bolt I dropped, only to find it sitting in my shirt pocket the whole time. Modern cars are just puzzles designed to make you feel stupid.
