Finally had the money talk with my dad after 3 years of dodging it
My dad kept asking to "borrow" $400 for his truck repairs back in March, and I kept making excuses. Last Tuesday I sat him down at Denny's in Modesto and straight up told him I can't keep lending money, laid out my own bills. He got quiet for a minute, then admitted he'd been scared to tell me about his pension cut. We set up a small repayment plan for what he still owes, and honestly it felt like a weight came off both of us. Has anyone else had a parent open up only after you stated a hard boundary?

Denny's in Modesto is actually the perfect spot for that, something about booth lighting makes people say the real stuff. Once you put the hard line down it's crazy how fast the hidden stuff bubbles up, like everyone's just waiting for permission to be honest.
