Had to choose between helping my brother cover his rent or saving for my own emergency fund last month

I picked the emergency fund and told him no, but now he's not talking to me and I'm wondering if I made the right call. Has anyone else had to set a hard boundary with family about money even when it felt terrible?

Did he even ask why you said no or just get mad?

I just laid it out simple like "hey I just wasn't feeling it" and he actually listened for once... that never happens with my ex though so I get where you're coming from. If he's just getting mad then you probably dodged a bullet honestly.
