I finally stopped covering my sister's rent after 14 months of silent resentment
My sister lost her job last spring and I said I'd help for 2 months. It stretched to 14 because she kept saying 'just one more check' every time I brought it up. I finally realized I wasn't helping, I was just avoiding a fight. Last Tuesday I sat down with a spreadsheet showing every deposit I made, about $6,400 total, and asked her to set a real end date with me. She got mad, but then she found a part time gig within 3 weeks. Has anyone else had to turn a loan into a hard deadline just to keep their own budget from collapsing?
