My mother in law's one sentence made me stop over-explaining everything
Last month she told me, 'You keep apologizing for things that aren't your fault, and it makes everyone uncomfortable.' She was right. I used to give a 10 minute backstory before asking for any favor, like moving a dinner date or asking my brother to chip in on a gift. Now I just say the request once and stop talking. Has anyone else gotten feedback that hit harder because it came from family?
