TIL my mom's comment about my spending habits actually helped me save $200 a month
She told me I was wasting money on takeout five times a week, so I started meal prepping on Sundays and now I put that extra cash into a savings account for Christmas gifts.

Is meal prepping really saving you money or just shifting the cost to groceries? I mean $200 a month from cutting takeout seems like a lot unless you were eating really expensive delivery every time.

Oh man, nobody's talking about the convenience tax you pay when you DON'T prep. Like sure, you might spend $80 on a grocery run for prepped meals, but think about what you're NOT spending on impulse snacks and drinks at the gas station or convenience store when you're hungry and have nothing ready. I used to grab a bag of chips and a soda basically every other day just because I was too lazy to make lunch, that adds up to like $30-40 a month easy. Plus you skip the $5 energy drinks and random fast food breakfast burritos on mornings you're running late. The grocery bill might go up but the random daily spending goes way down.
