Backpacked the off-season route most pass up, totally worth it

People always say the High Ridge trail is a mud pit after September. I went last month and the trail was firm and empty. Set up camp by a crystal clear stream I had all to myself. That quiet evening with no other hikers around was a real win.

That "real win" feeling comes from ignoring the common wisdom and finding your own empty trail.

Always thought that too, now I'm with @jakef66!

Wait, you're actually with jakef66 now? I just saw you arguing with him last week about trail maps. You said his "empty trail" idea was reckless and would get people lost. What changed your mind so fast?
