Just found out the Pacific Crest Trail is actually longer than the Appalachian Trail by like 500 miles

I always thought the AT was the big one but I was looking at trail stats on some forum last night and the PCT is like 2,650 miles vs the AT at 2,190. Kinda blew my mind. Anyone else mix that up?

Honestly though, the AT is way tougher mile for mile. The PCT is longer but it's got way less elevation gain and the terrain is more forgiving. The AT has like 515,000 feet of elevation change compared to the PCT's 300,000. Plus the weather on the AT is just brutal with humidity and bugs. Longer doesn't mean harder if you ask me.

I mean I got chased by a moose on the PCT once and that was its own kind of hard.
