Took the Pacific Crest Trail section through Washington instead of the Colorado Trail this August and the difference in water availability was wild

I was constantly carrying 4 liters on the PCT vs maybe 2 on the CT, and the mosquitoes were way worse out west - has anyone else noticed one trail just drains you more than the other?

Wait a sec, the Colorado Trail actually had way more consistent water for me too, but I think you might be mixing up which trail is which. The PCT goes through Washington and Oregon, and the Colorado Trail is in Colorado, so "out west" is a bit vague since both are western trails. The mosquito situation on the PCT in August was brutal though, I remember those little buggers coming in clouds around the alpine lakes. Did the Colorado Trail have any stretches where the creeks just dried up completely, or was that just my bad luck?

Yeah totally, those alpine lake mosquitoes were next level on the PCT for me too.
