Had to pick between cedar and pressure treated for my raised beds
I was gonna drop $320 on cedar for that new 4x8 bed, but my buddy said just use the cheap pressure treated pine since it's not touching food directly. Went with the pine, saved about 150 bucks, and honestly after 2 months it looks fine. Anyone else regret splurging on cedar or is it worth it long term?

Cedar will still be standing when that pressure treated stuff is dust, plain and simple. I built a cedar bed back in 2016 and it's got a little gray patina but zero rot, meanwhile my neighbor's PT bed from the same year is already sagging at the corners. The copper in pressure treated pine eats away at the screws faster than you'd think too, I've had to replace half the hardware on those things. Two months is nothing, check back in five years and you might feel different about saving that 150 bucks. Different strokes for different folks, but I'll never go back to the cheap stuff for anything I plan to keep around.
