Hit 50 backyard builds and number 51 finally made me change my fence spacing
I keep a simple tally on my phone, just for fun. When I crossed 50 builds last Saturday, I figured I had seen every mistake possible. Then this client in Fort Collins asked me to put up a cedar fence with 5 foot spacing on the rails. I told him that was too wide, he insisted, and honestly his yard looks better than half my older work. The extra gap gives it this open feel I never considered. My standard 4 foot spacing always felt safe, but now I am second guessing every straight run I have done. Has anyone else had a stubborn client push them past their usual numbers and accidentally improve the design?
