Vent: I mounted my TV bracket into drywall anchors first, then redid it with a stud finder and the difference scared me
I hung a 55 inch TV in my apartment in Tucson about 6 weeks ago using those plastic drywall anchors the kit came with, and it held fine for 19 days. Then one night I heard a pop and the whole thing tilted forward about 2 inches before the second anchor caught it. I pulled it down and found both anchor holes had egged out to almost double their size, just from the weight sitting there. Redid the whole mount with a $22 stud finder and 4 lag bolts into two studs, and that thing has not moved a millimeter since. The scary part is nothing about the first setup felt wrong when I was doing it, the anchors went in tight and the bracket felt solid. If you are about to hang anything over 30 pounds, spend the money on the stud finder and skip the anchors that came in the box. What is the heaviest thing you all have hung and how did you anchor it?

Saw a rigging forum post saying drywall anchors creep under steady load, which explains your egged holes.
