The $80 meal kit subscription that wrecked my grocery discipline
Signed up for HelloFresh during a weak moment in March, thought it would fix my junk food problem. Three weeks in and I was still ordering takeout on the side, plus the kits piled up in the fridge. The portion control was fine for a single night, but it never killed my habit of zoning out with chips at 9pm. Anyone else find that meal plans just make you want to eat worse on the off days?
Man, I gotta say I see it the other way. The kits actually got me cooking again and that kind of killed the late night snack thing for me. When I spend 25 minutes chopping and stirring, I feel like I put in the work, so I don't want to wreck it with a bag of chips an hour later. The takeout thing on off days is real though, I'll give you that. But for me the pile in the fridge was more about me picking kits I didn't actually want to eat, once I started choosing stuff I'd crave anyway it clicked.
