$40 white noise machine vs locks on the fridge. Which one actually saves a friendship?

Spent $40 on a decent white noise machine after my current roommate complained about my snoring. She sleeps better now. But the old roommate I had before her? She used to eat my leftovers every night. I got a $15 fridge lock and it made everything worse. She just pried it open and left the broken pieces on my bed. So which is the better investment? Fixing the noise or securing the food? Or is there something else that works?
