Baking fail alert: Weight measurement errors are on the rise in my circle
I baked a batch of brownies that were way too oily. Turns out, the recipe online had the butter in grams, but I read it as cups. Friends are saying the same thing with new digital recipes. Be CAREFUL when you see weights listed, always confirm the unit. My win came when I started writing conversions on my recipes.

A baker friend mentioned his whole team got tripped up by a new cake formula that switched to grams. They had the scales right there but still read the old way out of habit. It happens even when you're trying to be careful, because so many older recipes are in cups. Writing it down both ways seems like the only safe move now.

Last Tuesday, I pulled out a cookie recipe that listed flour in grams. I just used my kitchen scale like always, and it turned out fine. Honestly, I wonder if these errors are as common as people say. Most bakers I know double-check their measurements anyway. Writing conversions is helpful, but calling it a 'fail alert' seems a bit dramatic. With a little attention, these mix-ups are easily avoided.

Actually, the real problem might be how recipes get copied and pasted. Someone converts a good recipe to grams, then another site changes it back poorly, and the numbers get messy. You can't trust any single version online anymore.
