Shoutout to the guy who argued a local credit union beats my big broker account

Last month in Columbus, this retiree at the hardware store told me my brokerage fees were bleeding me dry. I laughed it off but checked my statements and he was right... I paid $340 in trading fees over 6 months. My local credit union offered free trades and a better savings rate too. Has anyone else found that the smaller banks actually come out ahead for everyday stuff?

Switched to a local credit union two years ago and my savings account actually pays something now. Fee free trading with the same stuff I had before, just less headache.
