That Friday in 2019 when my card got declined three times at a Kroger in Dayton
I was buying like $60 of groceries and my debit card kept coming back declined even though I knew there was money in there, and the poor cashier just stood there while a line built up behind me. Turned out my bank had flagged it because I bought gas two states away that morning, and back then there was no instant text to tap yes or no, so I had to call a number and wait on hold for 12 minutes in the parking lot. Does anyone miss being able to just walk in and talk to a human at a branch, or am I the only one who still keeps a little cash in the glovebox because of stuff like that?
Hold up, 12 minutes on hold in a Kroger parking lot with your groceries getting warm? That's brutal. The part that gets me is the gas two states away thing, like your bank thought you teleported from Ohio to wherever and back before lunch. My older sister had almost the same thing happen around then and she ended up switching banks over it. I still keep a twenty folded up in my phone case just in case.
