Did you ever try the thing where you explain your take to someone who knows nothing about it? I heard a guy on a podcast say he does that with his wife and if she gets lost he knows the point is weak. Honestly I tried it once with my brother about some dumb sports argument and he just stared at me. Turns out I was rambling for like two minutes and never got to the actual point. Tbh it stings but it works.

Funny how a 16d nail holds up a whole house until you read the chart and find out it taps out at about the same force as a good sneeze. Guess that explains why hangers exist and why my "it's held so far" method isn't exactly engineering. For side loads I've been adding actual hardware like ties and brackets instead of trusting plain nails, and screws only where the code allows them. Nails are for pulling out, not pushing sideways, and that chart was a rude little wake up call.
