Librarian in Tulsa handed me a challenged copy of The Bluest Eye and now I get why parents file complaints
So I joined a banned book club at the library in Tulsa back in March, and the first pick was The Bluest Eye. I honestly thought it was gonna be this big shocking thing, but the parts that got people upset were way smaller than I expected, like maybe 3 pages total. What surprised me was how many folks in the group had never even opened it, they just saw it on a list somewhere. Has anyone else had a book get challenged at their local library, and did reading it actually change how you felt about the complaint?

Nobody mentions how removing these books just pushes kids to find them online without any context.
