Went to the public library in my small town and found their whole banned display hidden behind the checkout desk

I asked why it was back there and the librarian whispered that someone complained about a kids book with a gay penguin family so now they keep the display out of sight even though it's not technically banned, has anyone else seen libraries self-censoring like this?

I used to think people overreacted about banned books, but hiding a gay penguin book changed my mind.

Right there with you @kelly.emma, it's wild how easily a harmless kids book about penguins becomes some big controversy. Makes you realize the whole "banning" thing is really about controlling what stories get told at all.
