Everyone raves about the 000 blade for bald fades, but I think it's a trap

For years I used a 000 blade on my Andis Masters for every fade, thinking it gave the cleanest blend. Last month, I forced myself to use a 1.5 guard open on my Wahl Seniors for the initial guideline on a dozen cuts. The result was a softer, more forgiving line that was way easier to work up from, especially on coarse hair. It saved me at least 10 minutes of detail work trying to fix harsh lines. Am I the only one who thinks starting with a slightly longer guard makes the whole process smoother?

Maybe victor80 has a point about it not being that serious.
